Lee Haskins' manager has said that Friday's fight with Don Broadhurst could prove a milestone in his charge's career.

Both Haskins' British super-flyweight title and his opponent's Commonwealth belt will be on the line in the contest, held at Newport Leisure Centre and shown live on Sky Sports 1.

According to manager Chris Sanigar, victory against Broadhurst would raise Haskins' profile and keep him on course for a world title shot.

"If Lee wins this fight it will open up a lot of doors for him at a higher level," Sanigar said.

"Once he gets Broadhurst out of the way he will have cleaned up domestically and deserve to be on a bigger stage.

"This is a career-defining fight for Lee as it will raise his profile so much because of the hype around Broadhurst.

"Lee is a 25-year-old approaching his prime and I feel he has the maturity to cope with Broadhurst."

Haskins (19-2) will be making his second title defence and has also been nominated as a challenger for Andrea Sarrituza's European flyweight crown.

He has been told he can face Sarrituza regardless of the outcome against Broadhurst (11-0).

Sanigar added: "It is not all or nothing against Broadhurst, but a victory could catapult him towards a world title fight also."

Also in action on Friday are Olympic bronze medallists Tony Jeffries (4-0) and David Price (3-0).
