It's great to be back in Hull this week and I like put on the fights that make sense for the show and for the city, wherever we are.
The fact that we've got one Matchroom fighter on this card goes to show my willingness to work with other promoters.
We've been working a lot with Ricky Hatton, Steve Wood and the Ingles. We want to grow the sport in this city and therefore we've got to provide opportunities for the fighters in this city.
In time, we may want to do something with those fighters ourselves, but we have to provide the opportunities and with Sheffield last week and Froch vs Groves coming up, I didn't have many fighters left anyway.
Whatever makes sense for everybody is what will happen, and anyone who thinks it's a closed shop on Sky are very wrong, and I'm always ready to listen to opportunities and have a willingness to work with as many people as possible.
We are under pressure from Sky to deliver and every show has to reach a certain standard, and sometimes to do that we have to work with other promoters.
As a fan, to talk about Richard Towers against Lucas Browne, I think it's a great fight. The same can be said for Josh Warrington and Samir Mouniemne. They are 50-50 fights and John Simpson is not an easy opponent for Tommy Coyle. It's a solid show with the golden boy Luke Campbell on top.
You can't put on arena shows every week and this is more about being back in Hull, it's a show that should provide a little bit of everything with a sold-out 3,500 arena providing a great atmosphere. I watched Campbell spar yesterday, and he's just so, so good.
With Luke and Anthony Joshua who won last week, we've got such a great opportunity to change the face of boxing. Two Olympic gold medallists with such a wide appeal, and if they can deliver they are going to be huge.
Last week we were looking for a big performance from Kell Brook, and he needed that kind of performance - anything else wasn't good enough. He had to be sensational and Senchenko was absolutely bewildered from the first bell, that ram-rod jab in his face and the finish was just sensational.
Kell was caught by the ear which gave him a little wobble but he was always in control of it, maintained his balance and awareness and he dealt with it, which was such a pleasing thing and he'll learn a lot from that.
Entertaining
Maybe the first Carson Jones fight will remain in people's minds but I know he's got a great chin, and is as tough as nails. He is going to be in exciting fights because of that style, he's entertaining to watch and punches really hard. When he is at the level he was on Saturday it's very hard to see him getting beat, and I don't think Devon Alexander would have beaten him.
I've talked to Golden Boy about Adrien Broner and Amir Khan as fights that we want but the most likely scenario is Alexander and I believe we can bring that one to Sheffield this time, we can do it outdoors and I've been speaking to the new owners of Bramall Lane. I think Kell is a bigger name than he was this time last year so hopefully there'll be more money in the pot when we bid for the fight.
We worked so hard for the mandatory position and to become a world champion with no options or ties is golden. If the Broner or Khan fight comes up then maybe, but whatever happens he's in a great position.
Brian Rose was our other big winner on Saturday when he beat Javier Maciel in a WBO eliminator. It makes me laugh when people shout 'robbery' etc, yet the press scores suggested it was a very close fight and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon at the moment.
For me, Rose did much the cleaner work. Maciel out-threw, but didn't out-land, Brian took a lot on the gloves. Maciel may have thrown five to Brian's two, but half the time Maciel's five didn't land. Yes, sometimes you want to see him being a little bit more aggressive and I was urging him on because Maciel looked ready to go on occasions, but it was a brilliant fight.
Sometimes Brian doesn't over-commit himself because he's very tidy, he's got a great jab and he scores well. If he did over-commit he would be coming out of his style, does he then get caught in a brawl and get knocked out? I'm sure he and coach Bobby Rimmer know what they're doing but there were times when I felt he ought to have been more aggressive. That said, it was fought at a great pace that Brian was tired too and it's all very well for me to be shouting at him from the front row!
He'll have the winner of Andrade-Martirosyan - they may opt for a voluntary but I think they'll look at Rose and hopefully they'll take it right now. We've already had two offers this week for other big fights in the division and he is in a great position and I think people saw a different side to Brian that they hadn't seen before. I think everyone knows he's a great boxer but he toughed it out and I think it was a big night for him.
Callum Smith was impressive again and I don't know what we're going to do with him now! Who do we fight next - maybe Brian Magee in a couple of fights time, I don't know. He's got sore hands after his win and we're just evaluating that at the moment. The fans want blood but at times you just have to take a step backwards and we might have to. It was a learning fight, he got caught a couple of times but it was a good six rounds under his belt.
Kal Yafai returned to action after an injury absence but he too hurt his hands and I felt a bit sorry for Kal as he was probably outweighed by half a stone on the night, and it's difficult when I guy is so much bigger and ends up walking you down. He took a humdinger in the sixth but again it was a great learning fight and he'll come back better for that.
