Scott Quigg could fight multi-division world champion Nonito Donaire in the UK.

The Manchester puncher’s trainer Joe Gallagher has fuelled speculation on Twitter by highlighting the possibility of welcoming Donaire to these shores and giving him a high-profile crack at Quigg’s WBA super-bantamweight title.

And the Filipino veteran has confirmed that Quigg’s representatives have opened negotiations in an effort to arrange the bout.

“Quigg’s people reached out to my manager to see if they could make the fight happen,” Donaire told Boxing Scene. “I’m willing to go there, I’m willing to fight anywhere.”

IBF champion Carl Frampton has long been mooted as a future foe for Quigg in a world title unification fight, but with that scrap hitting roadblocks despite promoter Eddie Hearn's £1.5m offer, Gallagher has opened the door for his fighter to meet another world champion after Donaire.

Guillermo Rigondeaux, the WBO belt-holder, has alleged that he would travel to the UK to challenge Quigg but Gallagher believes such a gesture isn’t necessary.
