Jamie Moore on Josh Warrington, Anthony Joshua, Amir Khan and Floyd Mayweather's swimming

Jamie Moore believes more good times lie ahead for Josh Warrington, Anthony Joshua and Andy Lee, but has questioned Amir Khan's career path.

How far can Josh Warrington go?

Jamies says: It remains to be seen. If you look at his foundations, he’s got a very good solid style. He doesn’t really take any shots cleanly. His defence is tight, he’s got a lovely work-rate - that’s his best asset - and he switches punches well to the body.

Lee Selby, the top British featherweight, is a terrific fighter in his own right, but they have got very different styles. He lets you walk onto shots and he’s got more of an awkward style. I think they will blend well and it would be an entertaining battle for the fans. Warrington isn’t quite at the level of Selby, but he’s making his way up steadily and soon enough he’ll be in a position where he is shouting him out.

If Selby wins the world title in May, then I think that would be too soon for Josh. He has come along rapidly and the brakes need to be put on just a little bit. Selby won’t want to go straight into an all-British showdown and I don’t think Warrington is ready for that yet. Let him settle at European level, make two or three defences against good level opposition, and then he can take on a big British clash.

Has Anthony Joshua shown his nasty streak?

Jamies says: The last three or four fights, he’s developed that bit of urgency to his work. Once he gets someone on the hook now, the devil comes out in him, you can see his demeanour changes and he really goes through the gears.

He’s awesome to watch. He’s such a phenomenal specimen as a man when he raises the tempo and it’s really something to watch. It will be interesting to see if he can do the same against a higher level of competition.

You can be too over eager, because that will land you in trouble, and I think he’s doing it the right way. Wladimir Klitschko has been branded as a bit of a boring fighter, but he developed that nasty streak later on and it’s good to see Joshua doing that at an early stage.

He’s hopefully going to develop into a really exciting heavyweight, and one we’ve been waiting for over the last few years.

Should Amir Khan be facing Chris Algieri next?

Jamies says: I think everyone is disappointed with his choice of opposition - Chris Algieri. He was a bit of a letdown against Manny Pacquiao, we were expecting a tougher fight, and it’s obviously not the fight that British fans wanted.

"Listen, my shoulders are falling apart and I’m a one-legged man at the moment, but I’m a better swimmer than Floyd Mayweather."

There was a lot of talk before Floyd Mayweather against Pacquiao was made that Khan was going to fight one of those two. Timothy Bradley has also been mentioned and for him to go with Algieri after talking Mayweather and Pacquiao, is a little bit on a comedown. I’m disappointed as a fan. I wanted to see him in with Kell Brook or even Juan Manuel Marquez or Bradley.

I obviously see the business side of it. He wants to go in there, do a number on Algieri, something that Pacquiao didn’t do. If Floyd beats Pacquiao, Khan can say: "Look I did a better job on Algieri, I’m a better opponent than Pacquiao, so let’s get the fight on. It does make sense business wise, but I’m a fight fan, first and foremost, and I wanted to see him fight Kell Brook.

Will Andy Lee successfully defend his world title?

Jamies says: I think this is a tough fight for him. Peter Quillin sort of dodged the Matt Korobov fight, Andy Lee stepped in and shocked everyone. Fair play to him, he was behind on the scorecards and pulled the fight out of the bag.

You cannot take that away from him, but Quillin is a tricky, awkward customer, but Andy in his last three fights has come from behind and knocked his opponent out.

I can’t really bet against him now going into a fight like that.

I think Quillin is the favourite, but I’ve just got a feeling that Lee will pull it off again. I think he’ll come through some sticky patches, but that right hook is his get-out-of jail card and I think somewhere along the line he’ll get Quillin with that.

Is Floyd Mayweather out of his depth in the swimming pool?

Jamies says: Listen, my shoulders are falling apart and I’m a one-legged man at the moment, but I’m a better swimmer than Floyd Mayweather.

I watched the video this morning of him doing it and you know what, I can do that with one leg in the pool in Tenerife. He wasn’t the best.

Floyd Mayweather has swapped the ring for the swimming pool as he prepares for his megafight against Manny Pacquiao.

I see what he’s doing, it’s a publicity stunt. He’s trying to get the American fans on his side. Manny Pacquiao is the more popular fighter and he’s trying to gain a bit of popularity out of it.

It’s only a tiny insight into his training camp and I’m sure the majority of training is done in the gym.
