World champion Kell Brook is desperate to get back in the ring as the war of words with British rival Amir Khan continues.

Brook made his first defence of the IBF welterweight title he took from Shawn Porter by beating Jo Jo Dan at the weekend - recording an impressive stoppage in four rounds - and immediately called out Khan.

The pair have traded boasts in the days since and despite promoter Eddie Hearn publicly doubting Khan's interest in agreeing to fight, both agreed in theory to a 'winner takes all' scenario.

I have told Eddie Hearn to get me out as soon as possible and I want to fight twice before the end of the summer, starting at the end of May.

"Saturday night was fantastic and I want to capitalise on that win," said Brook on Wednesday. "I came out injury-free and the leg felt great, so I want to box as soon as possible.

"I said before the fight that I have kept the fans waiting too long, I don’t want that to happen again. The buzz from the fans when I was walking out was amazing, and the roar each time I knocked him down made me feel like a giant.

Hearn, who has opened up the possibility of a domestic super-fight at Wembley Stadium on June 13, said: "The plan now is to build on the momentum of Saturday.

"It was a wonderful night – a packed-out arena and our broadcast partners loved it. Originally we were planning Kell’s next fight for July but he is itching to fight again and we could bring him back as early as May.

"It’s been a frustrating period for him but there is no stopping Kell now and we want to get him back in action as soon as possible."

Brook lost several months of his career to a leg injury sustained during a knife attack in Tenerife and is determined to make up for lost time with another quick-fire defence of his belt in the hope of attracting the winner of the Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao bout on May 2.

With Khan disappointed in his quest to secure a lucrative bout with Mayweather, the Bolton fighter may look somewhere besides the dangerous Brook for his next opponent - with the likes of Pacquiao's latest victim Chris Algieri rumoured to be among the possibles.
