Amir Khan has admitted he wants to silence Kell Brook after the IBF champion called him out following his stoppage win over Jo Jo Dan.

The Sheffield man made an impressive first defence of his welterweight title on Saturday night, flooring his mandatory challenger four times on the way to a fourth-round stoppage win.

In the post-fight interview, Brook demanded a summer showdown against his British rival Khan, with promoter Eddie Hearn putting forward a possible date at Wembley Stadium.

Khan appears to have been angered by this latest challenge, accusing Brook of ‘disrespect’ and insists he needs to enhance his reputation before the fight can be made.

“He’s only beaten one good fighter - [Shawn] Porter,” Khan told ESPN. “He needs some good wins against the likes of [Brandon] Rios, [Juan Manuel] Marquez, [Keith] Thurman, [Marcos] Maidana and the fight will be even bigger.

“I’d love to shut him up. Why give someone a payday when they constantly disrespect you all the time? The fight will happen when it’s meant to happen. Before the fight he said I bring nothing to the table, no title and he don’t need to fight me as he’s the champion. Now he’s calling me out.”

But the Bolton man seemed to make a U-turn when asked about the financial rewards on offer for another major domestic clash.
