Nathan Cleverly is determined to fight WBA light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer in September.

The Welshman was in the Sky Sports studios to watch Braehmer defend his title against fellow German Robin Krasniqi.

The champion retained his title after Krasniqi’s corner pulled their fighter out after he took a standing count and a battering in the ninth round.

Braehmer was previously due to fight Cleverly in 2011 but pulled out injured, while the Welshman inherited his WBO title and went on to defend it with a points win over Krasniqi in 2013.

"I’m told that fight can really happen,” Cleverly told Sky Sports. "I believe this fight is on the cards, so I’ve got one fight in me lined up and if I get through that I think it’s likely that myself and Braehmer are going to get it on.

"Lets see what the promoters can sort out now; Sauerland and Eddie Hearn can get together and really confirm this fight.

"But I know it’s been put in place, the seed has been planted and I’m ready, hopefully Braehmer’s ready.

"That’s the big question, will Jurgen Braemer really take me on, lets hope he does and I can rip that world title of him."
