Kid Galahad hopes Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg will finally settle their domestic rivalry this year, but doubts whether the winner will face him.
The 25-year-old Sheffield fighter is part of a thriving super-bantamweight division in this country topped by Frampton and Quigg, who both hold versions of the world title.
Fresh talks are being held about a unification clash between the duo and Galahad believes this fight makes more financial sense than a battle against him.
“To fight someone like me is very hard, because I’m not there to get hit and I can make a very good fighter look ordinary,” he told Sky Sports.
“Financially they are best off fighting each other and either they win or they lose, but they need to fight each other and make sure they get a good pay day.
“It will raise up our profile to the British public, make the super-bantamweight division even bigger than it actually is. It’s good if they box each other.”
Speaking on last week’s Ringside, Galahad suggested he inflicted a one-sided beating on Quigg in sparring, and predicted a crushing defeat for the Bury man if he does face Frampton.
Frampton will be too strong for him - he’s a better all-round fighter than Quigg is.
“I reckon Scott Quigg will get stopped inside six,” said Galahad. “Frampton will be too strong for him - he’s a better all-round fighter than Quigg is.”
But the unbeaten Yorkshireman does not expect the victor to grant him a title shot in the near future.
“I personally believe the winner won’t fight me. I’ve got more chance of fighting the loser, but if I want to fight the winner then I’ll have to do an either better job on the loser.”
