Tyson Fury would prefer to challenge Wladimir Klitschko than Deontay Wilder – but insists both fights will eventually happen.

He’s ruled the division for 10 years, nobody can beat him. I’m going to be the man to topple him, then I’ll fight Wilder and beat him as well.

The Wilmslow heavyweight fights Christian Hammer this weekend to defend his mandatory challenger status to Klitschko’s WBO honours.

Challenging the newly crowned WBC champion Wilder has also been raised as a possibly, although Fury insists he’d prioritise fighting Ukrainian legend Klitschko.

“It’s definitely a mouth-watering clash between me and Deontay Wilder,” Fury told Sky Sports. “Potentially it could happen as soon as possible but, then again, I am mandatory for Klitschko so I might have to do that fight first.

“I’d choose Wlad because he’s rated as the No 1 in the division and he has most of the belts apart from one.

“The reason I’d choose him is because he’s so dominant and he’s ruled the division for 10 years, nobody can beat him. I’m going to be the man to topple him, then I’ll fight Wilder and beat him as well.”

Fury insists he is on a collision course with the American Wilder due to their matching records and silver tongues.

“It could be in the pipeline. It’s got to happen, we’re two undefeated heavyweights. One British, one American and two great talkers. It’s a fight the fans want to see.

“My main priority is Christian Hammer, and getting him out of the way first. I can’t wait to get it all over with, and I may only be one step away.”
