Anthony Ogogo has suffered a setback in his bid to return to the ring which could see him sidelined for the rest of the year.
The British Olympic bronze medallist underwent Achilles surgery in September in a bid to cure a problem which has caused him chronic pain since the Commonwealth Games in 2010.
However, Ogogo, who has won all seven fights since turning professional in 2013, has been forced to go under the knife for a second time and is facing a lengthy lay-off.
"I'm now left with two new Achilles and I've got to build them," the middleweight told BBC Radio Suffolk.
"Eventually they will get up to the capacity where I can fight, train and become world champion."
Ogogo, who stopped Wayne Reed in his last fight in July, has not put a date on his comeback but he could be out for up to 12 months.
"It's about how my body reacts now," he added. "There's no reason why it shouldn't work. It was a much bigger job and two or three days afterwards I was in less pain than I was the first time.
"I can't wait to get back in the ring and start punching people."
