Kell Brook says he wants Amir Khan to be his next opponent because its the fight the fans want.

Eddie Hearn wants to make an all-British contest between the WBA champion and Khan, who takes on Devon Alexander this weekend in his second fight at the 147lbs limit.

Khan has made it clear his priority is a shot at pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather, and Hearn this week claimed the Bolton fighter was looking to dictate terms for any fight with Brook.

But making history rather than money should be the priority, according to Brook, who told Sky Sports News HQ: "Forget egos.

Johnny Nelson thinks it will be like a rollercoaster ride for Amir Khan on Saturday night against Devon Alexander.

"He's saying it needs to be on his terms, I'm saying my terms - I think we need to forget all that and just sign the contract. Let's make it happen for the fans. We're not in this sport a long time and I think we'd be making history making that fight happen.

It would pack out Wembley for a massive, massive fight in the summer. I just want to please the fans, I want them to get all dressed up and watch a great show

"He's only had one fight at welterweight and he doesn't really deserve a fight with me, but it's been going on for many years now: everywhere I go it's always 'when are you going to fight Amir Khan'.

"It's a fight that's easily made and it'd pack out Wembley for a massive, massive fight in the summer. I just want to please the fans, I want them to get all dressed up and watch a great show."

Victory for Khan this weekend would make a summer fight more marketable still, but Brook's patriotic streak means he will be rooting for his rival anyway.

"Putting me and him to one side I want him to go over there and get the win," said the Yorkshireman, who three times saw a fight of his own with Alexander fall through. "He's a Brit with an American opponent.

"There's going to be drama, and I'm leaning towards Amir to get the win. He's got fast hands and if he uses his boxing brain I think he'll pull it off."

As for Brook, he is back in full training after recovering from stab wounds received in a Tenerife attack in September just weeks after he claimed the world title.

A first defence has been pencilled in for March 7 in Sheffield, and he said: "I'm back sparring, running and sprinting. The leg's not an issue anymore so it's about me getting myself in great shape."
