Matthew Macklin's WBC Middleweight eliminator against Jorge Sebastien Heiland has been cancelled following the shooting of trainer Jamie Moore in Spain.

Macklin's fight against Heiland was due to take place at the National Stadium in Dublin on August 30 but has now been postponed until later in the year.

Heavyweight Anthony Joshua's fight against Yaroslav Zavorotnyi, which was due to take place on the same card, will now take place at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester on September 13.

"I am disappointed to have to postpone my fight but in the light of the circumstances and the disruption to my preparation it is the right thing to do."

Moore is currently recovering in hospital under armed guard after he was shot in the leg and hip when leaving a party in Marbella.

The 35-year-old former European champion, who became a trainer after retiring from the ring, had been working with Macklin at his Marbella-based gym ahead of the fight with Heiland.

“I am disappointed to have to postpone my fight but in the light of the circumstances and the disruption to my preparation it is the right thing to do,” said the Irishman.

“Every fight at this stage in my career is of huge importance and being 100 per cent for the night is vital. We will make an announcement shortly on a new date and I look forward to fighting in Dublin in 2014.”
