Scott Quigg: Joe Gallagher insists his fighter will knock out Yoandris Salinas on Saturday

Joe Gallagher fired a warning shot to Yoandris Salinas ahead of his WBA super-bantamweight fight with Scott Quigg on Saturday night.

Quigg's trainer has focused on promoting his fighter's excellence in the lead-up to the clash at the O2 Arena, but changed tack at Thursday's final press conference.

Addressing all those in attendance, Gallagher did not mince his words as he predicted an early night for the Bury boxer.

"I can't wait to let Scott off the leash after a frustrating period of inactivity," he said.

"Salinas is a very good fighter, was on the Cuban national team and fought all over the world.

Knock out

"But the one thing that's going to let him down on Saturday night is his chin. He got knocked out as an amateur, with 10oz gloves and headguard, and he's going to get knocked out on Saturday as well.

"Scott Quigg is the next best thing in British boxing and he's been a long time coming. I'm really looking forward to the fight."

Salinas, cutting a laid-back figure in sun-glasses, was in confident mood.

"I've prepared 100 per cent and training has been great," he said through an interpreter. "I'm very happy to be here and I'm ready to take that title back to Miami."
