David Price: The heavy favourite against Tony Thompson

David Price has been heavily backed to beat Tony Thompson in the fourth round ahead of their bout at Liverpool's Echo Arena on Saturday.

Sky Bet punters are in no doubt as to who will emerge victorious, with Price taking in more than double the amount of wagers in the outright betting, despite his short odds of 1/12 on.

Promoter Frank Maloney has been criticised for scheduling somewhat protective fights for his heavyweight hope Price, but in Thompson he faces a beatable veteran with a creditable history.

Wladimir Klitschko deemed the 41-year-old American worthy of a rematch after he went 11 rounds with the Ukrainian in 2008, before knocking him out for a second time in July last year.

Should Price inflict a successive defeat on the 41-year-old it may prove a significant step forward towards fighting the dominant Ukrainian, or perhaps his older brother Vitali.

At 11/2, punters have been lumping money on the Liverpudlian to finish it in the fourth round, with Price renowned for putting bouts to bed early doors.

Fight Specials

Known for finishing things early, David Price is 6/1 to beat Tony Thompson within the opening minute of the first round.

Only fellow-orthodox Raman Sukhaterin has taken the 29-year-old beyond the sixth round, which has perhaps contributed to the popularity of Under Six Rounds (4/7) in the pre-fight betting.

Ten of undefeated Price's 15 victories, 13 of which have come by way of knockout, were finished in the opening three rounds, and he's 5/4 to continue that trend against Thompson.

Odds are subject to change. New customers of Sky Bet can claim a free £10 bet.
