Newcastle Eagles needed overtime to beat Worcester Wolves but ultimately returned to the top of the BBL Championship with an 86-74 win.
Malik Cooke led all scorers with 29 points but Paul Gause was the hero as Newcastle rallied from 11 points down to force overtime on his late free throws.
The Eagles then took an unassailable lead in the extra period thanks to back-to-back three-pointers from American guard Gause.
The result leaves the teams locked together on 16 points, but Worcester have played a game more.
Friday's other fixture saw Sheffield Sharks beat Durham Wildcats 70-58 behind 19 points from Jeremie Simmons, with BJ Holmes contributing 18 points.
