Newcastle Eagles came from behind to win the battle of the top two with a thrilling 100-102 victory over Worcester Wolves on Saturday.

Joe Chapman hit an impressive 39 points for the Eagles while Charles Smith chipped in with 28, including what proved to be the winning basket with 11 seconds remaining.

The home side, who had lead for the vast majority of the contest, found themselves behind in the dying seconds but had the opportunity to win the contest.

But Tommy Freeman's three-point attempt with four seconds remaining fell well short and the Eagles held on to open up a six point gap at the top of the table.

Leicester Riders moved into third position behind Worcester after they picked up an impressive 74-64 victory over Sheffield Sharks in Saturday's other clash.

The Sharks, who fell to joint sixth with the defeat, started brightly, opening up an early 4-9 lead at the John Sanford Centre.

But the Riders got themselves back into the game and never looked back as they rolled over the Sharks in the second half of the low-scoring affair

Cameron Rundles and Ayron Hardy led the scoring for the Riders with 20 points a-piece, but Justin Dobbins led all scorers in the contest with 21 points for the Sharks.
