Brownlee brothers: Win the Abu Dhabi Triathlon
British triathlon brothers Alistair and Jonny Brownlee crossed the line together to win the Abu Dhabi Triathlon - the unofficial and extremely tough season opener.
The Olympic champion and former world champion battled against world class competition and 30 degree centigrade heat to win the prestigious event.
They share a record amount of prize money - almost £19k - and looked strong ahead of the 2014 world triathlon series which starts on April 5th.
Ahead of the race Jonny tweeted saying 'it's that time of the year again - my season starts tomorrow'.
He helped his older brother break his own course record by almost 8 minutes completing the 1.5km swim, 100km bike and 10km run in 3hrs 12 minutes and 21 seconds.
The Abu Dhabi Triathlon has become an iconic race in the sport with the swim taking place in a warm bay in the city and the bike course including a lap of the Yas Marina Grand Prix circuit.
Alistair took part in the race for the first time last year showing he can perform over the much longer distance before persuading his brother to join him this year.
The British pair are facing a tough fight to get back to the top of the ITU World Triathlon series after a disappointing 2013.
Alistair suffered from injury throughout the season and Jonny was beaten in a sprint finish to take second place overall in the series.
