Dwain Chambers was disqualified after false-starting in the semi-finals of the men's 100m at the World Athletics Championships on Sunday.

The British sprint star was left distraught after twitching in the blocks and subsequently being shown the red card.

The disqualification came just 24 hours after Christine Ohuruogu was similarly ejected after a false start in her 400m heat.

"It hasn't really sunk in yet but I've got to keep my thoughts and frustrations to myself at the moment,'' Chambers said as he left the track. "Obviously the gun went and I moved. It's a bit unfortunate. The rules are the rules and I false-started.

"Today I was optimistic about my chances but I was up against guys on paper faster than me so I would have had to run beyond my best to qualify.''

Slower

Asked about his future plans with his Olympic ban ruling him out of the London Games next year, Chambers added: "It's too soon to make any decisions on my current situation. I'm still enjoying it and we will see what happens.''

With Chambers forced to sit out, Yohan Blake won the opening semi-final in 9.95secs.

Title favourite Usain Bolt was slower in winning his semi but still did more than enough to reach the final, which goes off at 1245 BST.

He posted a time of 10.05, easing down as the line approached.

Briton Marlon Devonish was seventh in that race in 10.25 to make his exit.

Harry Aikines-Aryeetey also went out. He finished third in 10.23 in the final race which was won by the 35-year-old Kim Collins, who won the title back in 2003.
