Newcomers to the NFL were treated to a fine introduction to the gridiron sport with Sky Sports' very own Rookie Show airing during Sunday's double header of live game action.

Sky Sports' NFL anchorman Kevin Cadle was joined by Neil Reynolds and former player Cecil Martin to talk newcomers through the complexities and attractions of America's leading sport.

The NFL will play two regular season games in London at Wembley next year, and with the sport growing more and more people are looking to get into the game.

Watch our special video feature again to see the guys talking through the great sport of American Football - going through the passing and running games as well as showing some of the most ferocious big hits we've seen in the league.

Along with talking through the big phases of the game - we also look at the way passing and running plays operate on the field with the help of some top insight from our experts.

We've also got a brief take on the rules with Sky Sports News' Julian Warren and a breakdown on the scoring system used during the game.

Cheerleader challenge

If you still don't know your first downs from your field goals, then don't worry because in the second of our training aid videos we've got the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to explain it all...

The Bucs cheerleader gave some lucky volunteers from Cobham Rugby Club a tough lesson in American Football, with mixed results!

With similarities to both rugby league and rugby union, there are aspects of the game that all fans can associate with once they are put under the microscope.

Hopefully our video help will get rookie fans well and truly hooked on the game - and if that's the case then Sky Sports will have you well covered from here right up to the Super Bowl in New Orleans in February.

We'll have two games every Sunday in our usual double-header, along with Thursday night games and then every big play-off encounter coming live before the big one itself.

We also have the superb NFL Red Zone, the Soccer Saturday of the NFL only with live TV pictures, available behind the red button and online on Sky Sports Xtra along with video highlights online and full reports from every game in the league.
