Darren Sproles: A leading pass threat out of the backfield
Philadelphia have bolstered their offence with the signing of explosive running back Darren Sproles.
The Eagles have lured the versatile 30-year-old away from New Orleans, where he was a key figure in the Saints' running and passing games.
The signing of Sproles is Philadelphia's second raid on the Saints this week following the capture of safety Malcolm Jenkins.
In exchange for Sproles, who had a year remaining on his contract, the Eagles have given New Orelans one of their two fifth round picks in the forthcoming NFL Draft.
Sproles spent six years with San Diego before joining the Saint in 2011, and he quickly established himself as a dangerous receiver out of the backfield.
He claimed seven receiving touchdowns in his first two seasons with New Orleans, although he was held to two last year and added a further two on the ground.
Sproles has led the NFL in catches by a running back over the last three seasons, hauling in 232 passes for over 2,000 yards combined.
He also impressed in the Saints' play-off victory over Philadelphia last season, recording 15 total touches for 189 yards.
Sproles is also likely to get plenty of work as a kick-off and punt returner for the Eagles as well as easing the workload for lead rusher LeSean McCoy, who was second in the NFL with 890 snaps last season.
