Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin has returned to training after being cleared of concussion and will be able to play in Super Bowl XLVIII against Denver Broncos.

Harvin missed Sunday's National Football Conference championship win over San Francisco after suffering from concussion a week earlier in the divisional play-off victory over New Orleans Saints.

He had not been cleared by doctors in time to play against the 49ers but

Seattle coach Pete Carroll confirmed Harvin was back practising with his Seahawks team-mates this week.

The wide receiver, in only his second game of the season after a hip operation in the summer, claimed three receptions and one carry for nine yards against the Saints before getting hurt late in the first half.

He had returned in Week 11 against Minnesota Vikings but suffered complications after that game and was unable to make it back into the Seahawks' selection until the post-season.

Harvin's availability will boost Carroll's options for the Super Bowl which takes place in East Rutherford, New Jersey on February 2.

Though neither the Seahawks or Broncos are allowed to be represented in Sunday's Pro Bowl at Honolulu's Aloha Stadium in Hawaii, the prestigious game will see Tony Gonzalez bring down the curtain on a glittering career.

The Atlanta Falcons tight end has missed just two games in 17 years in the National Football League and will appear in his 14th Pro Bowl on Sunday.

Gonzalez holds a number of records including the most-ever touchdown receptions for a tight end in the NFL and was a late call-up to the side selected by Jerry Rice, which features San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers.

Rivers said: "What a career he has had. It's the last time he's going to suit up, so even more of a reason for the competitors' in us to go out and win the game."
