Eric Decker scored four touchdowns as the Denver Broncos took control of the AFC West with their 35-28 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Broncos had trailed 21-7 before Peyton Manning and Decker combined to lead Denver to a second win of the season over the Chiefs.

Decker finished with a career-high 174 yards from eight receptions, while Manning completed 22-of-35 passes for 403 yards and five touchdowns. Demaryius Thomas also made 108 yards off three catches, while Montee Ball rushed for 117 yards.

The Chiefs (9-3) had got off to a fast start as Alex Smith threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Junior Hemingway.

Decker first touchdown, courtesy of Manning's 41-yard pass, pulled the Broncos level only for the Chiefs to move back in front via a stunning 108-yard kick-off return from Knile Davis.

Paid dividends

Smith, who threw for 293 yards, then found Anthony Fasano with 12-yard scoring pass to move the Chiefs clear.

However the Broncos (10-2) came roaring back and four touchdowns turned the game their way.

Manning connected with Knowshon Moreno from three yards just before the half-time interval, before finding Decker from 37 yards in the third quarter to tie the scores.

The Manning-Decker combination paid dividends twice more - from 15 yards and then a yard - as the Broncos opened up a 35-21 lead.

Jamaal Charles, who rushed for 93 yards in total, crossed from a yard late on for the Chiefs however it was not enough to deny their rivals - with Smith unable to connect with Dwayne Bowe in the end zone on fourth-and-4 with less than two minutes left.
