The Minnesota Vikings are united in their hope that this week's trip to London could be the catalyst in turning their season around.

Leslie Frazier's team is preparing to meet the Pittsburgh Steelers at Wembley on Sunday but they head into the game with an 0-3 record after reaching the play-offs last season.

Last week they were beaten at home by the Cleveland Browns, a game that also cost them the services of starting quarterback Christian Ponder, whose status for Sunday remains in doubt because of a rib injury.

But Frazier, as well as defensive stars Jared Allen and Chad Greenaway, hopes being away from the spotlight at home will give them a chance to get their campaign back on track.

Frazier said: "From my experience, I think it does help because it creates a chemistry that you need when you are going through difficult times.

"It creates a trust factor that is so important in team sports and you develop a relationship that goes beyond the business aspect of what we do."

Allen said: "I don't think we needed the distraction of travelling to another country to play a football game when we are trying to right the ship, but at the same time if we use the time properly, you are secluded and all you are doing is focusing on the football game, then that could be an advantage especially going into a bye week."

Greenway added: "It certainly can't hurt. If you want to take the positive, the glass half-full, it's something that can help us.

"Reality is we won't know, but what we do know is that we need to get a win and our focus has to be on football and the job we have to do against Pittsburgh.

"They'll have enough challenges for us, and there are some added challenges from the travelling but we hope this brings us closer together."

Asked about Ponder, Frazier said a decision would most likely be made about his participation after their final serious practice on Friday.

He added: "If he couldn't do anything on Friday, to where we felt comfortable, we probably wouldn't put him out there."

You can watch the Vikings take on the Steelers in the first game of the 2013 International Series at Wembley on Sky Sports 2 from 17:30pm on Sunday.
