Marvin Austin has joined Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins have confirmed they have signed former New York Giants defensive tackle Marvin Austin.
After making 38 appearances for the University of North Carolina, Austin was snapped up by the Giants as a second round pick in the 2011 draft.
Austin's time at the Giants was hampered by injuries, though, with the 24-year-old missing the entire 2011 season and then making just eight appearances last year.
Austin was released by the Giants in August, however the Dolphins moved to bring in the 6ft 2in 312lb powerhouse after Paul Soliai was sidelined by a knee injury.
"I feel like this is a new beginning for myself and I hope to take full advantage. I'm just grateful to be here," Austin told the club's official site. "I'm going to be a professional, give it everything I got and let my play do the talking. I plan to bring quickness, strength and make plays for this team.
"From what I've seen on film I think this suits my game a little better and I think it tailors to the quick stuff I was known for."
Austin takes the place of back-up defensive lineman Vaughn Martin on the Miami Roster.
Martin has been a reserve in the Dolphins' first three games, but he has now been placed on the Injured Reserve list.
