Jacksonville will be without first-choice quarterback Blaine Gabbert for Sunday's clash with Oakland due to a hand injury.

Gabbert left the 28-2 defeat to Kansas City in the final quarter after suffering a bad laceration to his throwing hand.

Jaguars coach Gus Bradley confirmed that the injury requires stitches, and that he hopes to have Gabbert back for the week three fixture against Seattle.

"It's got to heal, and we need to keep it clean," Bradley said. "The big concern would be with the amount of stitches, that it could re-open and then the chance of infection occurring.

"We're going to handle that right. Hopefully we get him back next week or after the Seattle game in week three."

Former Miami quarterback Chad Henne will start under centre in place of Gabbert, who had a miserable first outing of the season against the Chiefs.

He completed only 16 of 35 passes for 121 yards with two interceptions and struggled to sustain any offensive drive throughout a one-sided game.
