Victor Cruz: fitness concern for top Giants receiver
Victor Cruz suffered a bruised heel in New York Giants' 20-12 pre-season defeat to Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Cruz, who recently signed a new long-term deal, left the game after the Giants' opening possession to have his foot X-rayed.
Results cleared him of any break but Giants coach Tom Coughlin was non-committal on the severity of his top wide receiver's injury.
It was a miserable night all-round for Coughlin's men at MetLife Stadium; they also lost starting centre David Baas to a sprained knee and generated little offence.
Quarterback Eli Manning completed eight-of-17 passes for 91 yards and an interception. The Giants' points came via four Josh Brown field goals.
Manning's opposite number Andrew Luck threw touchdown passes to Reggie Wayne and TY Hilton, and Adam Vinatieri landed a 52-yard field goal as the visitors scored on three straight series.
Luck had 107 passing yards and two touchdowns as Indianapolis produced a marked improvement on last week's 44-20 loss to Buffalo Bills.
