The Bucs, who had the worst pass defence in the NFL last season, have sent their first-round pick in this year's draft and a conditional pick in 2014 to the Jets in exchange for Revis.
Revis, 27, is coming off knee surgery and was set to enter the final year of his contract with the Jets, who drafted him 14th overall in 2007.
The man known as "Revis Island" for his ability in one-on-one coverage has signed a six-year contract worth $96 million with Tampa Bay, a team that have not been to the play-offs since 2007 and finished bottom of the NFC South in three of the last four years.
"I think this was a great move on my part to be a part of this organisation," said Revis.
"I'm going to do my best. That's how I work. I'm going to bring as much leadership as I can to this team.
"Our biggest goal is to win, and there's no better place to win than here."
Revis will get the chance to face his former Jets team-mates in week one of the regular season when the Bucs make the trip to MetLife Stadium.
