Ray Lewis: Celebrates with Vonta Leach at the end of Super Bowl XLVII
Baltimore Ravens legend Ray Lewis admitted there was no better way to bring down the curtain on his NFL career than by winning the Super Bowl.
Linebacker Lewis was part of an incredible defensive stand by the Baltimore Ravens in the closing stages of their 34-31 win over San Francisco in the 47th edition of the sport's biggest game in New Orleans.
Lewis secured his second Super Bowl ring 12 years after the first and was close to tears as he held the Lombardi Trophy in his hands at the end of a game the Ravens threatened to throw away after leading 28-6.
"It's simple: When God is for you, who can be against you?" Lewis said.
"How could it end any other way than that? And now I get to ride into the sunset with my second ring."
"It's no greater way, as a champ, to go out on your last ride with the men that I went out with, with my teammates. And you looked around this stadium and ... Baltimore! Baltimore! We coming home, baby! We did it!
"How could it end any other way than that? And now I get to ride into the sunset with my second ring.
"That was one of the most amazing goal-line stands I've ever been a part of in my career. What better way to do it than on the Super Bowl stage?"
