The Denver Broncos heaped more misery on the slumping Baltimore Ravens with a 34-17 triumph at the M&T Bank Stadium.

Quarterback Peyton Manning, who threw for 204 yards and a touchdown, recorded his ninth successive win over the Ravens, pushing the Broncos, already certain of winning the AFC West, to 11-3 for the season.

In contrast, Baltimore are slipping backwards at the wrong time. Not even a change of offensive coordinator could stop them slipping to a straight loss.

Under the new stewardship of Jim Caldwell, who replaced the fired Cam Cameron, they mustered just 119 yards of offense in the first half, failing to score a solitary point.

They did look set to get on the board when they drove deep into Denver territory late in the second quarter, only for a Joe Flacco pass intended for Anquan Boldin to be picked off and returned to the other end zone by Chris Harris.

That defensive score put the Broncos 17-0 up at half time, adding to a 27-yard Matt Prater field goal that broke the deadlock and a one-yard scoring run from Jacob Hester.

They put the game to bed when Manning connected with Eric Decker on a 51-yard TD throw, while Knowshon Moreno piled more misery on Baltimore by going in on the ground from six yards out, making it 31-3.

Tail-back Moreno finished the game with 118 yards rushing on 22 carries.

Flacco made the final scoreline look a little better with two touchdown passes to tight end Dennis Pitta, the second of them a 61-yard play, but the Ravens must now reverse their recent slide if they are to make it to the post-season.
