Mark Sanchez: Jets quarterback retained his starting role
New York Jets stayed in the wild-card hunt with a 17-10 victory at Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez kept his starting job and completed 12-of-19 passes for 111 yards without a touchdown or interception.
There was no place for Greg McElroy, who starred in relief during the win over Arizona last week after replacing the benched Sanchez, on the active roster due to back-up Tim Tebow's return to fitness.
Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee's 31-yard field goal was the only scoring action of the first half.
But touchdowns on the ground from Shonn Greene and Bilal Powell - either side of a Nick Folk field goal - turned the match in the Jets' favour.
Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne had a difficult day, including two picks, but running back Montell Owens scored on a 32-yard run to keep things interesting in the closing stages.
The Jets move to 6-7 and second place in the AFC East, while the Jaguars' 2-11 record is the equal worst in the league.
