Tony Romo: Broke Troy Aikman's franchise record for touchdown passes
Tony Romo broke Troy Aikman's record for touchdown passes at the Dallas Cowboys as he helped to inspire the franchise to a 38-33 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Romo completed 22-of-27 passes for 303 yards, with his three touchdown connections - all after the half-time break - moving him to 168 overall for the Cowboys.
"To be mentioned in the same breath as those guys is something I'll look back on one day," Romo said.
"At this point, it's hard to think that way when we're in the middle of a playoff race (and) we desperately had to have this game."
The Eagles had led 17-10 at the interval - with rookie Bryce Brown scoring two touchdowns and rushing for 169 yards in total.
However Dallas followed up DeMarco Murray's one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter with Romo's first scoring connection with Dez Bryant to level matters.
The two rivals were going toe-to-toe, with Riley Cooper putting the Eagles back in front only for a 27-yard pass from Romo to Miles Austin to tie the scores.
Alex Henery landed his second field goal of the match to give the Eagles a 27-24 lead but that was the last time they would be in front as first the Romo-Bryant link-up paid dividends again and then Morris Claiborne returned a fumble by Brown 50 yards for a touchdown.
Damaris Johnson's 98-yard punt return ensured a tense finale but the Cowboys were able to close out the game to go to 6-6 for the season.
