The Minnesota Vikings' hopes of winning the NFC North were dealt a huge blow after they suffered a 28-10 defeat to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler threw for 188 yards, a touchdown and an interception on his return from a concussion, while Michael Bush rushed in for two scores from the one-yard line.

The result moves Chicago to 8-3 and temporarily puts them back at the top of the division, although the Green Bay Packers will move above them if they beat the New York Giants in Sunday's late game.

The Vikings, meanwhile, slip to 6-5 and have lost four of their last six contests following a strong start to the season.

Minnesota took the lead thanks to a 40-yard field goal from Blair Walsh but Michael Bush's first score and a 47-yard kick from Robbie Gould put the home side 10-3 up at the end of the first quarter.

Bush then capped an 80-yard drive by punching in his second touchdown, with punter Adam Podlesh running in a two-point conversion on a trick play.

Matt Spaeth caught a 13-yard pass from Cutler to increase the gap to 22 points at half-time but the Vikings were given a glimmer of hope shortly after the break when Christian Ponder found Kyle Rudolph in the end zone.

Minnesota had the momentum with them but their hopes of a comeback were thwarted when they had a fumble return for a touchdown overturned on review. Another Gould field goal completed the scoring.

Star Vikings running back Adrian Peterson rushed for 108 yards but fumbled deep in his home territory to set up Chicago's opening touchdown.

Chicago's joy was tempered by injuries to Forte, Charles Tillman and Devin Hester.
