The Tampa Bay Buccaneers completed a dramatic late comeback with a 27-21 overtime victory over the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina appeared to have the game in hand after a 29-yard touchdown pass from Cam Newton to Brandon LaFell put the Panthers up 21-10 with six minutes left in the game.

However, the in-form Bucs simply refused to be beaten. Their rally started with a 40-yard field goal from Connor Barth that cut the gap to eight points.

Quarterback Josh Freeman then led Tampa Bay 80 yards on seven plays in 50 seconds, despite not having any timeouts, to set up a touchdown pass to Vincent Jackson.

The same pair then combined on a successful two-point conversion to send the game into overtime.

Not content with his efforts at the end of regulation, Freeman - who threw for 248 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions - hit tight end Dallas Clark down the sideline for the game-winning score.

The result means the Bucs have now won five of their last six. They had led 10-0 early on, Nate Byham's touchdown reception being followed by a 51-yard field goal from Barth.

For Carolina it was another tough loss in what is turning out to be a difficult season - of their last six defeats, they've led in the fourth quarter in five of them.

Newton finished with 252 yards passing and a touchdown and Jonathan Stewart ran for 43 yards and a score for the Panthers, who failed to avenge a 16-10 loss to the Bucs in the season opener.
