Robert Griffin III ripped the struggling Philadelphia Eagles apart, helping the Washington Redskins thrash their NFC East rivals 31-6 at FedEx Field.

The rookie quarterback completed 14 of his 15 pass attempts for 200 yards, throwing for a touchdown in each quarter, as well as running for 84 yards.

The Redskins' defense also came up big to snap a three-game losing streak, intercepting Philadelphia's rookie quarterback Nick Foles twice and recording four sacks.

Foles, starting in place of the injured Michael Vick, was picked off on his first drive, cornerback DeAngelo Hall grabbing the chance to claim a tipped ball.

Brandon Meriweather then marked his Redskins debut with an interception on Philadelphia's next possession, though the injury-plagued safety failed to finish the contest due to a right knee problem.

Griffin, in contrast to his fellow first-year pro, was almost perfect. He hit Darrel Young with a six-yarder to break the deadlock inside the opening five minutes, then launched a 49-yarder into the arms of the waiting Aldrick Robinson to make it 14-3.

Kai Forbath added a field goal for Washington before half time and Griffin knew it would be his day when he threw a pass into double coverage to Santana Moss, the receiver somehow hauling it in under pressure to score.

The icing on the cake for the Redskins came on a 17-yard TD pass to tight end Logan Paulsen, who dragged a couple of tacklers with him to the goal line.

The defeat means the Eagles, who managed only two Alex Henery field goals, have now lost six straight. Their day ended on a sour note, too, when running back LeSean McCoy was carted off the field in the final two minutes.
