The Buffalo Bills edged out the Miami Dolphins to secure a nail-biting 19-14 win on Thursday.
The boot of Rian Lindell proved crucial as he landed four field goals, while Leodis McKelvin returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown.
Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 17-of-27 passes for 168 yards for the Bills, while CJ Spiller registered 91 rushing yards.
Miami had their chances with Marcus Thigpen's 96-yard touchdown return and Ryan Tannehill's two-yard connection with Davone Bess giving them hope.
However rookie quarterback Tannehill was intercepted twice in the final two minutes as the Bills defence came out on top.
Mario Williams, Jairus Byrd and Bryan Scott all impressed in defence as the Bills snapped their three game losing streak to move to 4-6 for the season.
"It was definitely a must-win," Williams said. "With the way things turned out earlier in the season, we've got to come out and play like it's the play-offs.
"And we've got to make plays and we've got to finish. It got close there at the end, but I'm glad we came out with it."
