Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is "questionable" for Sunday's AFC North battle against the Baltimore Ravens due to a sprained throwing shoulder.

Roethlisberger suffered the injury during the week 10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs and the extent of the damage is still being evaluated, with the team awaiting the result of an MRI scan.

"Obviously this injury puts his participation in the questionable category for this week," Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday. "I will have more information as I get it, as the week unfolds."

The Chicago Bears are another team waiting on the fitness of their starting quarterback after Jay Cutler suffered a concussion during his side's 13-6 defeat to the Houston Texans.

With Jason Campbell the only other quarterback on the roster, the Bears have re-signed veteran Josh McCown.

McCown made two starts for Chicago last season - also when Cutler was injured - but has spent most of his career as a back-up.

The Bears' opponents next Monday, the San Francisco 49ers, are in a similar position with Alex Smith, who was knocked out of their tie with the St Louis Rams with a concussion.

Colin Kaepernick will deputise at quarterback if Smith fails to recover.

And Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid reported that his starting quarterback Michael Vick sustained "a pretty significant concussion" during week 10.

If, as seems likely, Vick is ruled out of the Eagles' Sunday trip to the Washington Redskins, rookie Nick Foles would make his first NFL start.
