The Baltimore Ravens had to survive a huge scare in Cleveland to continue their winning run over the Browns with a 25-15 victory in Ohio.

Baltimore had won nine in a row against Cleveland in this battle between essentially the old Cleveland Browns versus the new Cleveland Browns, but Phil Dawson's kicking threatened to cause an upset.

After taking a 14-0 lead, the old Browns, now the Baltimore Ravens, looked well in control of another easy victory in this series, but the hosts came storming back with 15 unanswered points to lead.

It was not until the final five minutes of the game that the Ravens finally cleared their heads and went in front with a touchdown from speedy wide receiver Torrey Smith and iced the game with a Justin Tucker field goal.

Cleveland's defence has been stingy in recent games, and they held the Ravens to just 282 total yards, although it did not look that way early as Ray Rice ran in for the opening touchdown in the first quarter.

Bernard Pierce repeated the dose with a fine scamper from 12 yards out and Baltimore took a two-touchdown lead and looked in complete command.

Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden struggled all game with several missed throws and with two interceptions, but he did at least get the team within field goal range.

Browns kicker Dawson was a perfect five-for-five in the game, as he split the uprights with three kicks during the second quarter and one also in the third and fourth.

That put Cleveland one point into the lead, but Joe Flacco finally found the key to the door as he hit Smith out wide for the touchdown that put them back into the driving seat.

Despite a raft of defensive injuries the Ravens still moved on to 6-2 and stay in charge of their own destiny in the AFC North, while the Browns slip to 2-7 despite recent improvements.
