The Detroit Lions made it back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a comfortable 31-14 victory over the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars in Florida.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 285 yards but it was on the ground that the Lions made it count as they scored all four of their touchdowns when rushing.

Mikel Leshoure scored three of those touchdowns in 12 second quarter minutes in a spell that took the game right away from the Jags, who had stayed competitive but not threatening until that point.

Neither side could really get anything going in the first quarter, and Jason Hanson's missed field goal was the only real scoring chance as the defences on both teams stood firm.

Detroit always threatened to be the more incisive though, and they got the breakthourgh when Leshoure bounded his way through the crowd from seven yards out for the opening score of the game.

Four minutes later and it was the same again as Leshoure went in from a yard, and there was still plenty of time for him to complete a hat-trick of touchdowns in the dying seconds of the half.

A 21-0 half-time lead soon became 24-0 as Jason Hanson made amends for his earlier missed field goal by splitting the uprights from 42 yards.

Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert threw interceptions on successive drives but finally got things right in the fourth quarter as he provided a five-yard pass for Michael Spurlock to get the home side on the scoreboard.

The Lions ran in a fourth touchdown in the fourth quarter with Joique Bell finding the end zone from ten yards out to make it 31-8 and ensure that the game was dead and buried.

Jacksonville managed to find some joy late on with Gabbert finding Justin Blackmon with a six-yard score as the rookie wide receiver bagged a first touchdown of his career.
