Aqib Talib: Has been traded to the New England Patriots
The New England Patriots acquired cornerback Aqib Talib from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the NFL's trade deadline pass with just one deal completed on Thursday.
The deal reportedly means that the Patriots also acquire a seventh-round draft pick next year, with the Bucs receiving a fourth-round pick in return.
Talib, who has been a controversial figure off the field, is coming to the end of a four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
The 26-year-old has recorded a total of 18 interceptions since being drafted in 2008, three of which he has returned for touchdowns.
The Patriots have recruited him in a bid to bolster their porous pass defence, which is currently ranked 28th in the NFL.
The trade deadline had been pushed back 48 hours due to Hurricane Sandy but did not lead to any other deals.
