The Houston Texans maintained their unbeaten record with a 23-17 victory over the New York Jets on Monday night.

Arian Foster rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown as the Texans moved to 5-0 for the season and in control of the AFC South.

The Texans led inside four minutes at New York's Metlife Stadium when quarterback Matt Schaub found tight end Owen Daniels with a 34-yard pass.

The Jets responded before the end of the first quarter, Schaub's opposite number Mark Sanchez hitting Jeff Cumberland with a 27-yard touchdown strike.

But Foster went in on the ground from 13 yards in the second quarter and a pair of Shayne Graham field goals extended Houston's advantage to 20-7 early in the third.

Joe McKnight gave the Jets hope by taking a kick-off back all the way on a 100-yard return but, after an exchange of field goals between Graham and Nick Folk, Sanchez was intercepted by Kareem Jackson with under two minutes remaining to seal the win for the visitors.

The Jets drop to 2-3 for the season, a game back of AFC East leaders the New England Patriots, while the Texans join the Atlanta Falcons as the only unbeaten teams in the league through five weeks.
