Philip Rivers: Threw for 209 yards with two touchdowns for the Chargers against the Chiefs
The San Diego Chargers scored 17 unanswered first quarter points against the Kansas City Chiefs en route to a 37-20 victory at Arrowhead Stadium.
Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers threw for 209 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while Ryan Matthews led the way on the ground with 14 carries for 61 yards.
Touchdowns from Eddie Royal and Jackie Battle sandwiched a field goal by Nick Novak as the visitors took control early on in Missouri.
Jamaal Charles' 37-yard run got the Chiefs on the scoreboard, but Donald Butler's 21-yard interception return ensured San Diego finished the half on a high note.
Charles' second of the game, this time a 13-yard reception from quarterback Matt Cassel, who was picked off three times, pulled the home side to within 13 points.
Battle's fourth quarter score put the game beyond the Chiefs, although they did score again through Dwayne Bowe. Novak's 45-yard field goal completed the scoring.
