Beasley and Kahlenberg interest German outfit after injury blow

Hannover have turned their attention to signing another attacking midfielder before the transfer deadline, with DaMarcus Beasley and Thomas Kahlenberg thought to be on their radar. The German side are eager to boost their midfield ranks after Carlitos, their summer signing from FC Basel, suffered a cruciate ligament injury to his knee just 30 seconds into his Bundesliga debut on Saturday. Hannover are believed to have already made an approach to take Kahlenberg on loan, only for Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg to turn it down. However, the 2009 champions may consider a permanent move for the Denmark international, 27, who is contracted until June 2013 but made just nine appearances in his debut season with the club.

Alternatives

Beasley, also 27, is available on a free transfer, though, after the American winger's contract with Scottish giants Rangers expired at the end of last season. "We need to have alternatives in our first-team squad as soon as possible," Hannover manager Mirko Slomka told Deutsche Presseagentur. "It would be great to sign a replacement for Carlitos and bolster our strength in central midfield as well." However, Hannover's interest in Borussia Dortmund's Hungary international Tamas Hajnal looks to be dead due to his wages at Signal Iduna Park.
