Baggies midfielder could miss start of season

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Kim Do-heon wants to represent South Korea at the Beijing Olympics. The 25-year-old played at the Athens Olympics four years ago and is hopeful of being selected as one of three permitted players aged over 23 at the Games this time round. With the Premier League season due to kick-off on 16th August, Kim's participation at the Olympics would see him miss the start of the campaign. However, the midfielder is confident the Baggies would not stand in his way, although no official word has come from the club.

Opportunity

"I want to play at the Olympics. I enjoyed a great experience at the Athens games and personally, it is a great opportunity," Kim told the Korean media. "There will be discussions about Beijing with my club. "Nothing specific has been mentioned yet and while I haven't spoken to the club about it either, I don't feel that they would say no."
