Russia boss Dick Advocaat has brought Roman Sharonov and Marat Izmailov in from the cold after naming his 26-man provisional squad for Euro 2012.
Rubin Kazan defender Sharonov last played for his country almost eight years ago but the 35-year-old has been drafted in due to fears over the fitness of Vasili Berezutski.
Advocaat, who will be returning to take charge of PSV Eindhoven after the tournament, has been bold elsewhere in his selection after also recalling Izmailov.
The Sporting Lisbon midfielder is named for the first time since 2006, while there are places for uncapped duo Vladimir Granat and Magomed Ozdoev.
Arsenal's Andrey Arshavin, who has been back in Russia on loan since the start of February, is one of seven Zenit St Petersburg title winners in the squad.
The squad is due to meet in Moscow on 20th May with three players set to be cut ahead of the tournament in Poland and Ukraine.
Russia open their Group A campaign against Czech Republic in Wrocklaw on 8th June before matches against co-hosts Poland and Greece.
They are due to play three friendlies before the tournament against Uruguay on 25th May in Moscow, Lithuania (29th May, Nyon) and Italy (1st June, Zurich).
