Portugal defender Pepe has been cleared to face Ghana next Thursday after FIFA confirmed his red card against Germany carried a one-match suspension.

The Real Madrid centre back will sit out Sunday's game against the United States after he was dismissed for pushing his head into Germany forward Thomas Muller during the Group G opener between the sides.

FIFA also hit Pepe with a 12,332 euros fine for the sending-off.

Maximiliano Pereira of Uruguay has been handed a one-match ban, and fined, for kicking Costa Rica forward Joel Campbell during his side's 3-1 defeat last Saturday.

Pereira will miss Uruguay's game against England on Thursday but will be free to face against Italy in the final match of the group next Tuesday evening.
