Maniche and Seitaridis ruled out

Atletico Madrid have suspended Maniche and Georgios Seitaridis from their squad after the duo failed to attend the game against Sporting Gijon at the weekend. Los Colchoneros announced on their official website that the pair would be excluded from all first-team activities as punishment for breaching club rules. While Maniche and Seitaridis were not named in the squad by coach Abel Resino, all first-team players are expected to watch games in the Vicente Calderon. When neither the Portuguese midfielder or the Greek defender showed up, Atletico took a hard line to show that the rules cannot be taken lightly. "Atletico Madrid has temporarily suspended Nuno Maniche and Giorgios Seitaridis from the first squad," the statement on Atletico's website read. "The Front Office has made this decision after both players failed to attend the Atlético-Sporting match, which is obligatory for all of the players, even if they are not included in the match-day roster." Resino called up B team players Aitor Nunez and Cesar to the first team to make up the numbers for training on Wednesday. Maniche and Seitaridis are known to have been disgruntled by their lack of chances under Resino and both are widely tipped to be allowed to leave the club in the summer.
